Panna to Khajuraho via Chitrakoot

The plan for the day was to visit Chitrakoot and finally reach Khajuraho at night. We left at 8:30 AM after an interesting breakfast overlooking river.

The roads are good in this section with some road widening ongoing. We reached our first stop, Kamadgiri Temple, in Chitrakoot in a matter of approximately 2:45 hours drive.

It was hot, you have to walk the steps of the temple barefoot as visible in the picture above. Anyway because of the heat the temple was pretty much empty. So we could do the darshan quickly and move on. Kamadgiri or Kamtanath is the presiding deity of Chitrakoot. 

The next stop was Sphatik Shila. As we were driving towards Sphatik Shila, we found Hotel River Side Resort. We stopped here for lunch. Here is my review of the place.

1:20 PM We left after lunch and quickly reached Sphatik Shila. I had visited this place around 30 years back and it has changed a lot. Looked completely commercialized, many vendors selling all type of stuff here.

The next stop was Sati Anusuya. It is around 30 minutes drive from Sphatik Shila. 2:00 PM we reached Sati Anusuya.

There is a modern temple/ashram in place at this location. We spent 15 minutes here and left for next destination which was Gupt Godavari. It takes around 15 minutes to reach Gupt Godavari from Sati Anusuya.

Gupt Godavari consists of few caves which contain a waterbody. Local purohits claim that this is the Godavari river. I have not found any evidence that it is so.

Finally, we started back towards Khajuraho. While coming we had observed that last 40 kilometers road before Majhganva were really bad, so we decided to go towards Nagod. We found this decent MP Tourism place at Nagod. We stopped there for tea.

Finally, we arrived  in The LaLit Temple View Khajuraho at 7:45 PM.
